As a part of the REACH Project, the 15 representatives of the REACH Youth Task Force participated in TAFISA’s Certified Leadership Courses this October.

This event was a specific, tailored training for a group of 15 youths that combined previous online sessions led by TAFISA Head of Operations Gaëtan Garcia and Project Manager Osazemen Aghedo and culminated in two days of in-person training in Poitiers, France, facilitated by TAFISA General Manager Game Mothibi.

The group took this capacity-building opportunity to plant the initial seeds of the most significant activity for their involvement in the REACH Project: 9 Community Actions of their design, management, and implementation. The training assisted them in exploring their skills for deigning creative solutions for engagement of local communities into sport, and the Youth Task Force peaked the final session by sharing a first proposal of Sport for All initiatives to be implemented within their communities.

The CLC was packed with insightful group discussions, an inspirational revamp of perspectives when addressing sport and physical activity, and a recharged energy to drive impactful change through sport. Participants expressed how this training has made them significantly more confident not only to design Sport for All initiatives but also to implement them. An uncontested majority described it as extremely and very useful training for them.

The youthful and more intimate approach of this tailored CLC proved to be a great success for the engagement and commitment of participants who used this occasion for upskilling but also for fun.

The project’s timeline is advancing with the Youth Task Force now focusing on the work around the Sport for All initiative proposals to submit these to the REACH Consortium for approval. The CLC Level 2 will be combined with the initial steps of project implementation starting in January 2026.

The proposals are fully funded by the REACH budget (co-funded by the European Union).
